Intro to My Translation Projects

I want to be a translator.

I need experience.

I’ve decided to take some initiative and try doing fun little projects to see what it feels like to translate text.  All my projects will be Japanese-English translations.

Yes, I’ve finally started work on some translations.

I have created a new sub-category for all of my posts about my projects.

So what are these projects anyway?

I’m not exactly sure, but I have a few ideas that I plan on trying out for the next few days/weeks/forever most likely.  These include translations of:

  • Scenes from my favorite shows (So transcription as well)
  • Excerpts from games and books
  • Online sources such as entries from Wikipedia

Hope I’m not breaking any laws.

It’s not like I’m making a profit from these or anything.

It’s all for fun and experience.

  • What’s your level at right now? And do you still live in NY? There is a lot of lucrative translation work to be had in NYC without requiring a whole lot of experience. I have some connections, so shoot me an e-mail sometime if you feel confident enough with your level.

    • Using your level guide, I would put myself around level 48. I do live in NYC, but I’m still studying abroad at the moment. I’ll be back in New York by May. Expect an e-mail(probably full of questions) very soon. Thank you very much for contacting me.
