In an effort to improve my reading in Korean (which was always my worst skill), I decided to do some old-fashioned sentence learning. This might be useful for beginner or intermediate learners.
Prerequisite
You need Anki, my SRS of choice.
Look for a deck called “Korean – Elementary and Intermediate”.
Download and BAM!

My specific, weird method
Personally, I really don’t like pre-made decks for two reasons:
- The very act of making the card will help you remember information.
- As silly as it sounds, I feel no personal connection to the card. I don’t like that.
Basically I just open up the deck edit window:
You’ll notice on the bottom there are three example sentences.
Basically I just make a new card for each sentence in my own Korean deck. I sometimes skip certain cards if I understand all the examples.
Here, an example:
In the “Destination” box there’s an audio file which is automatically generated with the awesome GoogleTTS Mp3 plugin. I’m very impressed with the Korean TTS voice.
I also include definitions for words I don’t know/have forgotten.
The creator of this deck was awesome enough to organize the deck very well, so it’s easy to filter it so you only see grammar and vocab cards.
Personally I’m just going to delete it once I’ve taken all the interesting example sentences.
So yeah, that’s about it. Thanks for reading. Leave a comment and recommend some other korean resources!
